I just love interviewing restaurateurs for my new "Savoury Restaurant of the Month" advertorial in Snapd Vaughan East and Snapd Woodbridge. They always end up feeding me!! I know what you're thinking...it's a tough job but someone has to do it. A special thanks to Joe Lombardo owner of That's Italian Ristorante (Vaughan) and That's Italian Express (Richmond Hill) - Both "Savoury Restaurants" for the month of May.

APRIL 8TH - HAPPY 90TH BIRTHDAY JACKIE ROSATI!
Happy 90th Birthday to Jackie Rosati - an exceptional lady and an original of the Italian community (she came from Italy via Ellis Island!!). What an honour it was to be present at her birthday party last week. A mentor to me, she's one of the pillars of our community and a serious force to be reckoned with Great emceeing, Laura Tonelli!Me and Jackie |

ARPIL 6th - BRUNCH EVENT @ THE COUNTRY CLUB
Nothing like a lazy Sunday brunch overlooking the links at The Country Club in Woodbridge. Delectable food and although the wine looked tempting it was a bit too early in the day to dabble in the sweet nectar of life.

APRIL 4TH - 2ND ANNUAL VAUGHAN FILM FESTIVAL AWARDS CEREMONY
The 2nd Annual Vaughan Film Festival was a huge success! Sensational short films, sold-out screenings and a stellar awards ceremony summed up one of the city’s most noted events. Luckily, Tony managed to take the night off work in order to join me at the Riviera Parque for the closing of the VFF (can’t remember the last time that ever happened! LOL)
Congratulations to Reel Film Pictures and VFF founders Mark Pagliaroli and Antonio Ienco for turning their incredible vision into a reality. Not only have they given Vaughan a reputable and novel cultural event that everyone can be proud of but they have also provided independent film creators here and abroad another platform in which to showcase their work. Bravo, my friends!

APRIL 3RD - VAUGHAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BUSINESS ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS
I could take some emceeing tips from Michael “Pinball” Clemens As the host of the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce “Business Achievement Awards” he entertained with his usual wit and managed to further inspire an already highly-accomplished bunch. Celebrating 25 years of business excellence this annual event recognized and honoured nominees within a wide spectrum of categories - small business, young entrepreneurs, construction services, builder, hospitality, manufacturing, retail, non-profit/charity, professional service and more. It was nice to see Mr. Rudolph Bratty (Bratty & Partners/Remington Group) receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.
I’d like to note that despite hard global economic times Vaughan business has continued to see steady growth and that over 80% of the city’s economy is fueled by small business.
